Advertising Fails So Funny They Just Might Work
Advertising is a tricky business. It is the job of the advertiser to make something look so irresistible that consumers simply have to buy it, regardless of whether or not they're currently trying to save money. Some people go the sophisticated route, some try to sell with humor or sexually suggestive messages, ... and some of these people seem to just be winging it. Regardless of what method you go, out in the world, strange things can happen, ... like ads in exactly the wrong place at exactly the wrong time. Effective or not so much, advertising fails can be really funny. Is it bad planning, bad placement, or was it done on purpose to make you laugh? Let us know what you think, and don't forget to SHARE if one of these made you smile!
'Come Join the Fun!'
That's probably not the best place to put an advertisement for a bible camp. Or does this graveyard become a "RAVEyard" after dark?
'If It Ain't Broke, Break It'
Somebody clearly felt really inspired by this ad. (As a side note, though, we question an ad that encourages you to break the glass bottle you're drinking out of.)
Yes, That Is Probably What He Said
Was this an oversight or an editor with a little bit of a twisted sense of humor? Either way, this probably does NOT make you want to grab a refreshing McDonald's beverage.
Clearly!
Hey, it says pool care experts, not driving experts. You can't be good at everything. (The real question is, is your pool clean?)
'Yeah, Sure, I've Got a Death Wish'
Gee, wonder WHY it's 75 percent off?? Only somebody who's fantasized about reliving the Titanic disaster would click on that.
Post-Workout Power Move
Suddenly that protein shake doesn't look so appetizing anymore. ... There seems to be a pattern of editors with sick senses of humor here.
Starsucks
They probably didn't think about the door OPENING when they were painting that van, ... but they probably couldn't have won. Even if they moved the letters over, it would either say "stucks" or "ucks."
How Embarrassing...
Unfortunate. This seems to simply be another case of, "didn't see that coming. ..." But would it kill them to clean the bus?
Not Inspiring Confidence
That's probably not what you want to see at an airport. The fix here would've been so easy, too: Just turn the ad around.
'If We Can't, We Won't'
That's probably true. "If we can't, we will," is what most of those positive, cheery companies would say, but that's just unreasonable. At least they're honest. (Does Ron Swanson own this truck?)
What Are You Suggesting?
They either forgot to move that sign, or somebody at that grocery store was feeling very cheeky that day. (If you're going that route for Mother's Day, you can probably do better than a cucumber. It'd better be your wife you're shopping for, though!)
A Looming Threat
The Game of Thrones cast is coming for you, Santa Monica Pavilion Residential Care for the Elderly, ... and you're all going down.
Oops!
Bad ad placement makes this sad story sound like a bad alibi. "How did your sister die?" "Oh, haha, um, she accidentally killed herself. Oops! Definitely wasn't me. ..."
Seems Suspicious...
The Walking Dead and a funeral home, huh? Nothing suspicious there. ... That is not a co-operative I'd like to be part of, thanks.
Who Do You Believe?
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, ... I caved and bought a 20-piece chicken nugget meal. Sorry, doc.
Optimal Placement
Well, he showed them; ... they all seem impressed. There's no question, this one was definitely on purpose. We see you, layout guy.
Cat Jesus
And the Lord spread his arms wide and said unto them, "... Buy me this specific brand of cat food!"
This is How We Straighten Teeth
Oh, well if that's how they're doing it now, I think I'll live with my slightly crooked teeth. I mean, if you squint, the grate kinda looks like headgear. ...
A Good Deal
See, that's perfect, you and two friends each contribute a dollar, you get the two croissandwiches, one of you dies of heart disease, and the other two get discounted breakfast. Win-win-win.
Multi-Purpose Van?
Was it a mistake? Or does Mitchell use that truck for his day job and his side hustle? If so, good money-saving tactic, my dude. If not, ... maybe call your painter.
'My Legs Have Never Looked Better!'
Aw! They all look so happy in their new tights! Especially that guy in red, he is definitely feelin' himself.
Baby Needs It Now
You heard 'em, folks. Step on it. Do you want that kid screaming all night? We would question those items being in the same aisle at all, but when you think about it, it makes perfect sense.
A Man of Many Hats
So this is a film about a man who wears fun hats while looking very intense? Sign me up! Where do I buy tickets?
Maybe Don't Do That
Letter spacing, people; it's important. If anything, with something like this, you want to overcompensate. One of these things is a relaxing time. The other, ... not so much.
A Call to Action
An anti-smoking ad on the back of a school bus sounds like a great idea, and it is! But the placement leaves a lot to be desired. Imagine you're a sleep-deprived teen, about to climb onto the bus and endure another seven hours of studying, and you see this. Do you get on the bus? Or do you take control of your life?!
